Paper Wreath

Ok, I have been working on this little piece for a while now. It was quite time consuming. And here is why.
First I had to decide how I wanted to put the paper pieces together. I tried one way thought it was quite heavy so I took it apart and went a different route.
Here is what I did.

Took a wire hanger and pulled and stretched until I had a circle shape, Made a cut in the frame so I could put my pieces of paper on it.

Took some old manuals from my job and tore out the pages.

Took those pages and cut them into squares about 4"x 4"

I then tea stained each paper by soaking them in a bowl of tea.

To dry them faster I put them in the oven ( this process took quite a while due to the number of pieces I had) ( and believe me I had a lot of pieces.)

After they were dry I folded them in half and punched a hole in the middle of the folded piece.
( another part of the process of the making of this wreath that took a little time)

Next came the fun part. I started to string them on my wire frame. Now at first it didn't look like much. But I kept stringing them on and it finally started to look like a wreath. So I kept going.

When I had it completely full I hooked the frame together to complete the circle.

Then came the final touch! A bow! I made it so I could change it out with different color bows if I wish.

Sister Stool!!

Here are the two drawers I started with. I found them at my sisters
in a big shed she was cleaning out. They didn't belong to anything, so we gave
them a new life otherwise they would have been fire wood. How sad would that have been.
They would soon be "sister stools". And a place to store things.
Victoria and I  sanded and cleaned up the drawers(they were pretty dirty and oily)

We had some 4x4 chunks of wood laying around,
which was just what I wanted for the chunky legs.
As in the picture this is Angie's stool. We distressed it with some white paint.
With Victoria's stool we just stained it and put poly on it. I had my dad cut plywood for the tops.

We used foam on the top and wrapped material and stapled it to the under side.
We screwed the legs on from the inside of the drawer. We could have put piano hinges on
the backside so lid would just lift up, but chose not to.

The pictures above are the first stool we made for Angie
The ones below are pictures of Victoria's stool.
They are basically the same but different just like my girls.

Victoria and I finished this second stool while she was back for Christmas vacation.

So here ya go my sister stools, one for Angie and one for Victoria!

This is the first stool we made for Angie. Yep that is my dad in the middle. Couldn't have made this without him. Plus it just put more meaning into the making of the stools. That's me on the left and Victoria on the right. We had fun making these stools. Crafting has always been a part of my life and my girls too. So glad they enjoy as much as I do.

I did find one more of those drawers, so you guessed it, I am going to make one for myself!

Oh Crafty Saturday how I love thee!

Baby Gifts Galore

Well we are delving into a new area.
SEWING
I have been sewing since I was in high school.
My sister and I used to make a lot of our own clothes when we were young.
It was cheaper then buying at a shop. We could make what we wanted in any kind of material, the possibilities were endless.
What I think is truly sad is they are taking sewing classes out of the school systems. (In our small school any way and I am sure in a lot of others.).
Angie decided to try it and fell in love with it. She stared making baby booties, bibs and burp clothes so I decided to take up sewing again. I forgot how satisfying sewing and seeing the finished product is.

Bibs, Booties, Burp Clothes and Blankets are a few of the things we are working on.

Here is one of our burp clothes

And a bib bootie set.

All these things are so cute and functional. and we have sure had fun making them.

2nd annual Funky Junk-a-loo! Success!

It has been quite a while since we have posted on our blog. But life has been so busy for the both of us. But we are back on to stay. hope you join us. It should be fun!

We had so much fun this year. and it was made extra special by having my other daughter, Angie's sister there with us. She was a great help, as I don't do well with the square credit card thing. So I was in charge of taking cash and they were in charge of taking credit.

A few pictures to let you see the fun and joy we had this year.
that's Victoria and I

Angie manning the checkout table. (She refinished this old record holder but decided it was to cute to part with, I think it is a great addition to our set up)
the sisters having a good time. They don't get to see each other often so that was another special treat for us.

Yes that is me having a little fun before the mayhem started.

Here are some pics of our setup!

We delved into some new areas this year....Sewing and candle making.
Now I have sewed since I was in school ( just a few years ago tehehe)
But Angie started to sew this year without any real training, just what she learned on her own and I think she does wonderful work.

We got to see some returning venders that we met last year
and a whole lot of new ones as the show doubled in size.
The people of Waterloo did a fantastic job with this show.
