BEDROOM REDO PART 1

Well in previous posts, ( Aug., Sept., and Oct. of 2017) you saw how we re did the outside of our house. In May of 2018 I started to redo the inside of the house.
I originally was just going to do our bedroom. You see Bill was in Arizona helping his mom and dad. I wanted to get the house back to how it was. I decided to start the redo on my own. I started by pulling up some of the carpet to see what was underneath. We had layed carpet up there 28 years ago, I cold not remember what the floors looked like. We we not using the upstairs at that time. Once we got the carpet up there we started using the upstairs bedrooms (our family was growing, we had 2 children by then)

As you can see I was really disappointed to see that the floors were painted blue. But with the help of my daughter, Victoria , we got the rest of the carpet up and out of there. There was no turning back now. I also had the help of my sister, with their help we cleared out the bedroom. Ok what do I do next.

First I tried taking the paint off the floor with paint remover. It did a pretty good job except for an area right in the middle of the floor, it was a square about 6 feet by 6 feet. I don't know what was on the floor but paint remover would not touch it. Ok in steps my brother-in-law (He does construction for a living) I asked him to give me some advice about sanding the floor. I rented a floor sander and he helped me sand the floor.

Yep that's me sanding the floors. And let me tell you it is not as easy as it looks. You have to be very careful not to let the machine stand is one spot to long or it will really leave a deep groove in the floor. Now don't get me wrong it was really satisfying knowing I did it. I think they turned out beautifully. Just look below.

Next post I will be putting up pictures of my finished bedroom.  I am so in love with how it turned out. Oh and since I was really loving our bedroom I decided I was not going to stop here.  Iam doing the dining room and living room also. I thought why stop at just the bedroom!

Who doesn't like something personalized!

Angie loves making stamped bracelets. She stamps all sorts of sayings on them and also gets a lot of requests for personalized bracelets. Some are birthday gifts, some are anniversary gifts and some just because.

Ok,  she does a lot of motivational and naughty bracelets. These are so popular right now and a lot of people are making them. To be truthful when I first saw some of them I was kind of taken a back. But at our craft shows they were such a hit and such conversation pieces. People would come into our booth, start looking at the bracelets and either giggle and smile or find someone they knew to share what was on the bracelet. We have sold quite a few of these little gems.

Below are a few of her naughty ones.

I am pretty sure her favorites to make are the special requests.
She just completed one for a guy to give his wife for their anniversary.
Another gentleman requested a saying of a bracelet for his wife's birthday.
We forgot to get pictures of those two.
But here are a few inspirational ones.
As you can see the one in the upper left hand side
is actually a necklace and it will just tug at your heartstrings. Such a touching tribute to someone that is no longer here.

She also makes some with patterns on them. The possibilities are quite endless.

Here are some of my favs!

I love this one. You can use your own handwriting. Now that is a cool idea.

I like the use of cord for a neat twist on the stamped bracelet.

The leather on these bracelets and how the stamped
part is attached make this bracelet a keeper.

I will keep adding more as I see them and like them

Soy Wax Melts

We have started making wax melt tarts to sell at our craft shows
and also on our  CraftySaturday etsy shop.

We both had quite a bit of soy wax from a previous craft we had done. We bought a bunch of old teacups and saucers and made soy candles in them. After making quite a few soy candles in the cups we still had a lot of wax left over, so Angie had suggested that we make wax tarts. Excellant idea Angie! We used up all of our wax and had to buy more. We have been doing quite well with them, not to mention we both like to use them ourselves.

It has been fun making them and experimenting with the different scents available.
These are the scents we have been using so far.

When I was a kid I made all sorts of candles so this felt natural to me. I had my own little candle making space in our basement. I would spend hours in our basement making all sorts of different candles. So making these wax melts just seemed natural to me. I love making them and sharing them.

Firecrackers turned into Snowmen

Ok this post is a little late but it has a great story.
You see back in June of 2017 my daughter and I were suppose to participate in a craft fair in our home town for our 150 year celebration.
We had decided to do a live demonstration in which the participants would be making the item we were demonstrating, something to celebrate the 4th of July. I went to our local lumber yard and purchased quite a few 2x2x8 foot boards. We purchased some  wood stars on etsy, (check out our etsy shop if you care to right here),
We had decided to make a set of firecrackers that anyone could make even children, and something we could complete in our 1 hour time limit.

Well we couldn't proceed because Angie got a migraine headache. So in the end we had a whole bunch of 2x2's .

Fast forward to November and Angie coming up with a plan for all of those 2x2's.

We had a couple craft shows coming Late November early December. Angie decided to take 3 of the 2x2's and make snomen. She painted the boards white and then painted faces on them.
She added little hats and matching scarves.

I had quite a few of the boards , so I decided to make some also.
I asked my 84 year old dad if he would paint the boards white.
I think he really enjoyed it. He doesn't get to make to many things anymore. He used to be my go to guy when I needed things for my crafts. He has kind of slowed up in the last few years, so I think he really enjoyed.

I love how they turned out. Not to mention we got to use up all the wood we had cut up.
Oh and the wood stars got a new life also. Angie modpodged sheet music she printed from the computer and made Christmas ornaments from them.
